About Us - General Information
Code of conduct
We generally have high standards of behaviour in school and the key to this is high expectation. Children are given clear guidelines as to appropriate behaviour, with the emphasis very much on positive statement about what constitutes good behaviour. Children are also made aware of how sanctions will be applied in the event of breaches of our code.
Dress Code
Children are strongly encouraged to wear school uniform. Lots of Children wear the school sweatshirt over the white/blue polo-shirt. We love to see the sea of blue as we are working in classes. Order forms are available in the school reception are and can be downloaded here. It is essential that all uniform items are labelled with your child’s name.
Jewellery
For safety reasons we strongly discourage the wearing of jewellery, stud earrings only please. No jewellery to be worn on PE days. The school will not accept responsibility for any pupil injury associated with the wearing of jewellery nor any loss of personal property.
Parent / Teacher Consultations
Parent/teacher appointments are arranged in November and May, though parents with concerns are welcome to contact the school at any time to arrange a mutually convenient appointment. Meetings are often easily arranged for the end of the school days. Parents are asked not to have impromptu discussions with class teachers at the start of the day as this is the time they require to settle children for the day ahead.
Homework
Parents are asked to support children with homework, ensuring that tasks are completed to a satisfactory standard and should sign work before it is returned.
Download a useful guide to homework here.
Attendance
Good attendance is essential to the continuity of education. Schools are now set targets in attendance by the Scottish Executive. Parents who wish to take their child out of school must request permission in writing from the Head Teacher, where this request is for two weeks or more the request will be referred to Pupil Support Services.
Lateness
Lateness can cause unnecessary interruptions to the routine of the class – pupils are required to be punctual.
Extra- Curricular Activities
Craiglockhart Primary has a range extra-curricular activities provided by the PA and the staff. Information about these activities is available on the notice board in the reception area.
